Constipation

good evening

my partner whose on EOX chemo is having trouble with constipation. He's tried alsorts.....fybrogel, movicol, docusate, bisocodyl, suppositories/enemas and even had colonic but to no avail..... stomach huge with gas and uncomfortable! Tonight we've started the "prune pudding" which consists of cup of All bean, cup of apple sauce and a cup of prune juice.....any over suggestions welcome

  • Hi I am newly diagnosed with renal cell cancer and suffer with constipation my gp has prescribed laxidol and instructions to drink 2 litres of.fluid a day which is helping although drinking the 2 litres of fluids is hard work especially as it doesn't include alcohol lol

I hope.you find something to ease it for you as it is not nice.

  • Talk to his care team who can prescribe something stronger but make sure he is drinking lots of water.

Sounds obvious but dehydration is a common cause of constipation, so make sure he is drinking little and often - at least 2 to 3 litres per day. The water will help his system flush away the EOX by-products too and help stop his pee from stinging after his infusions (a problem I had with EOX).

    Cheers
