I’m not sure if this is what’s happening to your mum, but some chemotherapy drugs can cause strange sensations in the hands and feet, often described as numbness and tingling. The medical term for this is peripheral neuropathy. You can find more information about this here.
These nerve changes normally go within a few weeks of finishing treatment, it may take longer for some people. It is unusual for someone to have long term peripheral neuropathy. Your mum may find it helpful to discuss this with her medical team. If they think she has this condition we have some helpful advice on our website that may be useful to her. Her doctor may be able to recommend treatment to help relieve the symptoms if it continues.
