I was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney and spine, with small lesions found in the skull too. I was married to a Thai national in 2005, after she became pregnant with our eldest boy, in 2004. I brought my wife, her, at the time 14 year old daughter, and our son to England in 2007. My wife found it hard to settle , I was made redundant, and we struggled financially. During this time she became violent, after one such violent episode, when she attacked me, whilst I was holding our second child, who was 18 months at the time, I called the police, she was arrested and spent the night in cells. I did not wish to press charges, as I thought the shock of the arrest would make her change her ways. instead she swore that she would get revenge. She left me in 2011, taking both of our boys, and sought a divorce. The divorce had no grounds, therefore it was not issued. I was diagnosed with cancer in August 2015. In January 2016, she again filed for divorce, under the 5 year seperation rule. Yesterday at the final hearing the judge ruled that I would have to sell my house and give her £100,000, he did not show any compassion towards me, even though he was aware of the 5 years I had been given for survival, and the fact that losing my home will hasten my demise, is this justice?
Does anyone know of any legal options I might have available to me, I represented myself, but now realise that was a mistake, as my condition has reduced my capacity to communicate to the level required in a courtroom.
My home holds most of my happy memories over the past 27 years, memories of my 4 sons, two from a previous marriage, and it means so much to me. My boys also love this house, and always enjoy staying with me at weekends and holidays.
