Side effects of hormone therapy

ive been through chemo and radiotherapy for breast cancer had a mastectomy developed a DVT  and totally unrelated to the cancer have had sudden hearing loss on my left ear but the worse bit is the now I'm on hormone therapy it's made me a different person  memory loss, weight gain, severe tingling of the hands and fatigue but I'm alive so I've to be grateful I just thought that once the treatment was over I could get on as normal but what is normal now

  • Hi

I have also had a mastectomy chemo and rads.Im now taking hormone therapy myself

How long have you been on your medication?

I had quite alot of side effects to begin with.Looking back to that time though id say alot of it would of still been from the chemo and rads still in my system along with the new drug.

It does take some time for your body to recover its been through such alot.

I finished my radiotherapy in july.I was still pretty weak for a good 2/3 months.Im just starting to feel more myself i feel stronger physically now.I still have times where im tired.

I am still forgetful and i do get words muddled up..chemo brain i call it.That is also now alot better im happy to say.

As for the hormone therapy side effects they too are becoming less and less the longer i take it.

Stick with it.By the sounds of it from what my oncologist said they do tend to settle after a few months.

If its unbearable please talk to your oncology team for support.

    Take care
