Hey,
I'm approaching the end of my chemotheraphy and from a recent CT scan it has shown that the tumours have shrunk in my lung so hopefully come next week I'll be receiving my last ever dose of Bleomycin and that'll be it (apart from from the following checkups and the next scan during November to ensure no further treatment is needed) and things are looking optimistic that the outcome will be good however, I'm incredibly eager to get back to work since I find myself mind numbingly bored irregardless of doing things and I want the independence of actually earning my own money (and a decent amount of it at that) rather than being on the low amount of ESA which is somewhat laughable.
Since my employer laid me off along with several others just after my treatment had begun I no longer have a job to return once treatment has been completed (not that its all a bad thing since I know I'm worth much more than the position I was doing at the time) so I'm currently contemplating applying for jobs in advance (since the start dates should be after treatment) so once things are done I've got some form of plan already to engage since I can't help but feel like my life has been put on hold due to the uncertainty of when I'll be able to finally resume everything.
My question though is, how do I go about applying for jobs? I mean, lets say for instance I apply for X job and get through to the interview - From my awareness I don't have to disclose my cancer diagnosis and treatment unless they've made me an offer? in which case, for them to dismiss me upon them grounds would be discrimination? People have been telling me to just focus on getting better and not think about work for the time being but its so frustrating when all you want to do IS go back to work and return to normality.
Any advice people could give me I'd really appreciate it since its really racking my brain but on a plus side, least I can't pull my hair out over it (chemo beat it to it haha)
Thanks,
Paul
