Breast cancer

This awful thing called Breast Cancer. I've lived through 3 lots of surgery, chemotherapy & radiotherapy treatments, and yet still have to have another operation . My family mean everything to me, and now with only 5 years left to pay on our mortgage, it seems we are going to lose our home . It's hard to understand that, because I cannot work at the moment, cancer is now taking our home away. Feeling so upset that we haven't told our family yet.

Hi LLL .....  I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I too have BC but at a secondary phase.

Please get in touch with the McMillan Nurses based at your local hospital.  They have a financial advisor who has been a massive help to my partner and I.  The one I saw was from  the CAB and they help the McMillan service.  Like most patients, nothing financial had been explained to us and I could have actually been claiming ESA three years ago, so have lost a tremendous amount of money.  There are also other benefits available but hopefully they will be explained to you if you get an appointment booked.

Please do not suffer alone - there are many here in a similar situation and we can help and support each other when needed.  Best of luck for you and please let me know how you get on x

  • So sorry you are having this aswell as the bc. Good advice already given as to esa,pip etc. I was being paid when i was off work with bc. Then without warning it stopped and so did my heart. Filled me with fear, but i took the bull by the horns and applied ofr what i was entitled to and after a few weeks i was sorted, albeit scary,it is your right to claim. My word none of us ever intend to but sometimes needs must and there is no shame in needing help x
