Hi Gerard
I have had radiotherapy to neck and Jaw and neck. This can lead to osteoradionecrosis, or bone death. The radiotherapy kills off many bloodvessels in your jawbone. You will be very susceptible to dental caries. You must keep up good dental hygeine, use Duraphat toothpaste (high fluoride) avoid sugars, if you do eat sweet stuff at mealtimes brush yout teeth afterwards. Give up sugar in hot drinks and give up sugary fizzy drinks. Do not allow a dental surgeon to remove a tooth without consulting with the radiology oncologist. At all cost prevent any trauma to your jaw or teeth. If you follow this hopefully you wont end up with serioous problems. Kim
