Tax credits dilemma and need advice

When I was dx in 2013 all I could think about was my young son.  Although i hae remained friends with his father and indeed lied ion a house he owned in lieu of maintenance.  it was a situation that worked well while I was bringing up my other children aswell.  I infored tax credits back in 2004 that Im lived in the house.

Anyway back in 2013  I was dx with lung cancer which ment having a VATS procedure. From that moment on my mindset changed, I had panick attacks got depressed and worried immensley about my young son who at the time was 10.  I spoke to his father and it was agreed that he would move into his house .  We do not have any sexual relationship, we sleep in seperatwe roomt s, different friends, different interestes etc.  Now tax credits want me to say we are a couple when we are not, he is purely here for stability not for me but for our son. Things are hard enough with waiting for a 2nd dx on my other lung, Im scared, Im frightened and getting in a real mess as finding it so hard to focus.  I forgot to mention all bills are all in my name apart from mortgage which he pays as per our agreement.  Any advice would be great.  Thank you

  • Hello Mumoflu,

It sounds as if this financial situation is really causing you some stress at the moment and I presume that you haven't had any sort of "official" advice or support from the hospital, Dr or Social Services about financial matters since your diagnosis.

We do have some information on our website about where you might be able to get more specific advice from to help and I've linked it for you here

Hope that you are able to get some practical advice and support to ease this worry for you.

    Best wishes,
