Eyebrow Loss with Docetaxel

I finished chemo in June this year and despite having now got a full head of hair, some eyelashes and hair other places too(!), the old eyebrows are still completely non existent!  I had the same treatment this time as 9 years ago but my eye brows returned last time.  It is only a small price to pay to keep the cancer at bay but on a day to day basis, it is a bit of a pain to have to draw my brows in and sometimes, I forget!  One time when I was still wearing my wig, I drew my eyebrows on with the curtains drawn as I had not put on my wig and later discovered that I had been walking around some shops with fluorescent orange eyebrows as I had used the wrong pencil!  Before I bite the bullet and get expensive tattooed brows, what are other people's experiences of getting their brows back after Docetaxel - how long did it take?

  • You are right! I finished Docetaxol 3months ago and hair everywhere growing ok but my brows are patchy and are only about two-thirds as long as they were. I actually forget to even consider my looks nowadays but now you mention it, my brows are pretty peculiar (like the rest of me) lol!   X

  • Yeah, it helps to have a sense of humour!  I really think mine are really not ever coming back at all now.  A cruel twist of fate that having already had more than my fair share of needles this year, I will have to face the tattooist needle and ink!

  • Sounds too much pain to me! Buy some stick-on ones haha!  I'd be a bit nervous having a tattoo - what if you don't like them?  Funnerly enough, I was in the shop Peacocks today and they were selling spectacles which had eyebrows and a nose and moustache attached. You had to wind a little button on them and the brows and moustache wiggled up and down!  Maybe we should put them on our Christmas lists!

Good luck if you decide to have them done and speak soon xx
