Travel Insurance

Can I just post on this forum that if anyone is looking for travel Insurance after completing your cancer treatment to have a look at www.insurancewith.com. I completed my treatment in July and was looking around for reasonable travel insurance, most of the big names don't want to know, or one person called me back and said I hadn't completed the quote, when I advised him his company wouldn't cover my medical condition, he told me that they could cover me for loss of baggage money etc. What's the point my house insurance covers all that. Insurance with have been brilliant, I went to Spain for a week and for me and my husband it cost about £52.00 for both of us. We are off to Orlando next month and because we are going for over a month they were not able to let us have annual insurance, hence 2 separate quotes, but the cost of insurance again for both of us was £269. I thought these were both very reasonable

  • Hi hammy4

Thank you for this advice, which will be very useful to our members.

I hope you have a great time in Orlando!

    Welcome to Cancer Chat,

  • Thank you Hammy4 for posting about travel insurance. I have not tried that company but have had ridiculous quotes costing more than the holiday!   I would love to return to Florida but had dismissed it completely, however you have given me hope, although I understand the stage you are at in your cancer journey is also an important factor when receiving a quote. My husband also has health issues and I become so frustrated going over the same questions each time I get a quote, so much so that I know what is going to be asked beforehand and am answering it before the call handler has finished! I must be a nightmare for them.  I had given up with frustration but you have relit my fire and I'll give this Company a try. Many thanks and I hope you enjoy Florida. Tina.

  • Hi tinaturbo

As well as the useful information hammy4 has posted, there is another discussion here on travel insurance which you may find helpful.

    Best wishes

  • Many thanks Jane and I'll have a look at the other posts.

  • Hi Tina, I have seen ridiculous quotes. This company www.insurancewith.com I have been told are run by people who have had cancer themselves and know it is so expensive.  When you go to the site you choose what option you want. You then fill out the form. Once you put details in, that's when the questions come, I didn't find it too onerous to fill in, my husband has high blood pressure and have always paid extra for that due to him being on 3 tablets. But with insurancewith there was no excess. I had to fill in the form due to my bowel cancer, there isn't many, I do have an excess of I think about £365.00 for my month away, which I can live with. Please give it a try and let me know how you get on. If you want you can give them a call but they can be very busy. When you call the number, they actually give you another number that is a local number so it's cheaper. I hope you manage to get that trip to Florida, going through cancer you need something to look forward too xx

Hi Hammy4. Many thanks for your update and it does sound worthwhile pursuing, however, at the moment my husband is undergoing scans for a lump so not sure what the outcome will be. Holidays are on hold until we have some more information and for now it is a case of hoping and praying but I will keep a note of this company and let you know how we get on if holidays are on the agenda!  This has been a horrible year for us health wise and it is so important to have something to look forward to.
