food and drinks

Is there any food or drink that tastes ok once you ge that metallic taste from your chemo. I have tried sweet, sour, spicy, etc and everything might taste good for 5 min and then back to the metallic taste

  • Hi Rocker

I know what you mean I'm enjoying strong fresh ground coffee.I've made a chilli for later so I'll have to see but last nights curry seemed very  bland. Are you using a mouthwash? Not an easy fix I fear, maybe over time it will improve? I'm on radiotherapy for mouth cancer so it's a double whammy for my taste buds!!

  • hi David

I wish I could have coffee. I noticed it turned my stomach and other Cancer patients found they had to give up coffee and beer.

I have tried mouthwash and even brushing my teeth with peroxide and baking soda. Helps a little but does not last. I did notice anything with choclate seems to be not too bad...so bye bye diet...lol

  • Just an update I've had some success with soy sauce in a stir fry with garlic prawns! I'm going to try a kedgeree tomorrow with smoked haddock and a bolied egg with some pilau rice Salt seems to be the key so far !
