Working before op

Hi , I am just diagnosed with kidney cancer,  it is very small so I am lucky.  I am going back to work and people seemed shocked that I am and keep asking me if I should.  I have about  6 to 8 week wait for my op . I work in the care profession myself and it is heavy and stressful at times . I am confused about what to do.

  • If you feel able to, keep on working, busy days go quickly and leave no time for idle thoughts to get out of perspective. Your job will give you excercise which is good and it will help you feel "normal" as its part of your daily life.  Save your sick pay for your recovery, dont rush back to work, take your time till you feel fully up to it. Even then maybe your employer can arrange for you to start back part time and work up to your full schedule. Wishing you a successful operation and speedy recovery.
