work post cancer

I don't have any replys from my question and that really is does anyone get back to work post surgery and post chemo from a lobectomy? so I have to assume that no one really does what they did before .That is probably going to be my new reality that may take a little time to get my head around,I have worked since I was 17yrs in busy jobs and stressful jobs ,so what do I do now .I don't want the rest of my life taken over by cancer or waiting for its return which apparently is highly likely.Has anyone managed to forget about the cancer they once had and post it away .Lung cancer is not one of the cancers which is easy to get rid of I am hoping I am one of the 5percent cures after 10yrs .Then also always hoping I have got it wrong and someone corrects the figures as says don't be silly , it is 50percent survival rate and you'll be fine .

Some people do go back to work if they feel well enough and they are able to cope with the demands of their work. If you have always worked long and hard it may be you have limited hobbies and interests to keep you occupied. The same would apply for those retiring in good health. I have a different type of cancer the statistics are 20% survival at 2 years. I am in remission right now and have returned to work, it does free you from dwelling on your situation, I do think about cancer every day but just not all day. If I had enough money though I would stop working and spend my time travelling and pursuing hobbies and interests, I dont really want to spend the last healthy part of my life working.
