Health insurance after cancer

Hello I've had prostate cancer and skin cancer in the last 2 years as well as a hip replacement and am about to take voluntary redundancy at 61. While employed I was lucky enough to have BUPA which covered my treatment but this will end when I retire. I asked BUPA for a quote to extend and it was ridiculously expensive, which wasn't a great surprise. Does anyone have recommendations of other more affordable providers? Thanks!

  • Hi Redrocket39 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear what you've been through over the last 2 years and that you're unable to extend your health insurance with BUPA.

This must be very frustrating but I hope it helps to know that you are not alone as so many of our members have encountered similar issues when trying to get health insurance as well.

Hopefully some of them will pop by soon to share their tips and advice, but in the meantime I hope this information we have about health insurance and cancer will be useful.

You may also be able to get further support and advice from Macmillan and/or Citizen's Advice.

    Kind regards,
