Travel insurance...going to Paris Boxing Day do I need a GP letter

I have just applied for and had email confirmation re GHIC but it appears I need a GP letter confirming fit to travel to get travel insurance. Due to the holidays I won't be able to do so.

Travelling by Eurostar...can I get travel insurance without GP letter?

Who can I apply to for travel insurance and what is the cost?
