A friend has been diagnosed with kidney cancer , she lives in the middle of nowhere and is paying over £100 each time in taxi fares! She is living in a hostel type accommodation and doesn’t work. This can’t be right ?
There is help available for travel costs if you are on a low income and low savings. Ask at hospital reception. Usually a refund on bus fare possibly a taxi if no bus service exists. Also there is a hospital car service run by volunteers which you do have to make a contribution sometimes an ambulance will be provided rarely.
I sympathise with your friend it cost me £200 a week for taxis during radiotherapy treatment.
