I have a family member trying to access immunotherapy for cancer treatment in Germany. It seems almost impossible to arrange travel insurance. Can anyone offer advice.

Hi Ed58,
Try https://www.medicaltravelcompared.co.uk/. This is an insurance comparison site, which you might find helpful. You could also try Staysure or All Clear. It is also worth taking their GHIC card.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine
Hi Ed58
Im currently having immunotherapy and quotes for travel to Europe are around £100 per day. As Jolamine has said they could just rely on a GHIC card for extreme emergencies and pay any out of pocket expenses.
Immunotherapy can come with the risk of some serious side effects which require immediate intervention leading to these high insurance premiums. And if your relative is not covered by German health insurance the high cost of treatment there.

That sounds really tough, Ed. Sorting out insurance for treatment abroad can be one of the most stressful parts, especially with immunotherapy. Sometimes the clinics in Germany can recommend insurers they’ve worked with, and brokers who handle pre-existing conditions are worth reaching out to as well. You can also look into medical tourism options like PlacidWay (https://www.placidway.com/) it’s an upload of different clinics and resources abroad, which might help you compare and find more good options. Wishing your family member strength and the smoothest path forward.
