Foreign Travel

My partner is 88 years old and has cancer which has been in remission for over 3 years. He is on active surveillance and has periodic scans. He  has exceeded all expectations and responded very well after 6 sessions of chemotherapy which finished in December 2021. His level of activity and general well-being is excellent...a good deal better than many who are much younger. We regularly walk long distances. Treatment is palliative but as things stand, he is doing remarkably well. We have travelled widely and our last abroad  ventures were in 2019 before Covid struck. We would love to go abroad again, if only for a few days European city break but have been unsure because we know how an 88 year-old with cancer would be viewed. Cost isn't a worry, it is just knowing whether a short abroad break is a real possibility for us? Any thoughts???

  • Hello BJW

I'm sorry to hear about your partner's diagnosis but it's good to know that he's doing so well at the moment. It's understandable that you want to make the most of your time whilst he is feeling so well and if possible to venture away for a short holiday.

Do speak to the team responsible for his health care as they will be best placed to offer an opinion on his health and the possibility of travelling.

I hope that you have some positive news from his doctors and that you're able to plan a holiday.

    Best wishes,
