Life Insurance & Terminal Illness

Hi

Im hoping for some help.  My father in law passed away on Thursday 15th August after a long battle with Bile Duct cancer that moved to his gall bladder and liver.

We are currently sorting insurances out.  His policy with Norwich Union had a clause in it whereby his terminal illness claim couldn't be made as he had less than 18 months left on his policy. He passed away 4 days after his policy ended.  The payment would have made an incredible difference to his wife.  Has anyone been successful with appeals'?  Is it likely that they will pay-out as it was just days after the policy ended.

this is all an unbearable strain, not only was he unlucky with his diagnosis  and subsequent battle but now this.

Thank you

  • Welcome to the forum Millywicket although I'm very sorry to hear your father in law passed away last week. You have my sincerest and heartfelt condolences for your loss.

Hopefully some of our members who have found themselves in a similar position will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you get in touch with one of Macmillan's financial advisers they should be able to assist you further.

Citizen's Advice and the Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to help as well.

This must be an incredibly upsetting and stressful time for you and your family but we are here for you Millywicket and will have our fingers crossed you are successful with your appeal.

    Kind regards,
