Cancer Benefits

I am about to go onto half pay at work.  I have oestrogen and progesterone negative cancer but HER2 positive.

I do have some savings but feel it is unfair to have to live off my savings.  Are there any benefits I would be entitled to or are they means tested?

I am currently receiving PIP for another medical condition.

Thanks

  • You should inform Pip of the chance in your circumstances for instance

You state your already receiving pip

If it's only standard rate for care component or standard for mobility

You could go up to enhanced rate when you report "change of circa".

    NB

Request a "Patient summary" off your receptionist at GP surgery.

Gather all your contemporary evidence together

When you speak to the personal independence payment staff also request a PA4 (This is what the last assessor wrote down & sent to DWP)

All free documents you can gather free of charge.

I know it takes a long time to get through on the phone just get on with another chore that's what I do.

Welfare rights was my job before I got cancer myself.

Once you have gathered your evidence together

& Requested a PA4 off them seek advice from Maggie's centre or Macmillan too.

Thanks for this. I am on enhanced PIP for mobility and standard for care, which is currently under review.  I have informed them of the cancer but am still waiting on a decision.

I will seek out help ftom Maggies Centre as there is one at the hospital where I am receiving treatment.

Top tip try and get adaptations to illustrate

    Your competency.

For instance a bath board or grab rail off council. I have a shower seat as I can't stand for long in the steam.

So that's two points B4 they start.

Also remember it's not whether you can do a task it's if it's SAFELY REPEATEDLY & RELIABLY L
