So after talking to the consultant re my dad's bladder cancer, which has not spread and is muscle invasive. Due to him having cerebral palsy it's been advised he try palliative radiotherapy once a week for 6 weeks due to the effects on his quality of life from bladder surgery and radical radiotherapy it has not been advised as it would be a challenge for him.
Is this treatment going to help prolong his life and let him enjoy more time with his family ? How long extra will he be getting? (I know its a question that can never be answered) At the moment the only real symptoms he has is nocturia. I'm not sure how much this treatment is going to enhance his life and what extra time it will give him?
Has anyone had experience with this type of cancer and or a family member. Have you/they had treatment and carried on living life for years? Or are we just delaying things only for a matter of months making symptoms possibly worse?
The consultant saidthe cancer he has is the usual cancer they find in the bladder so nothing extreme, it's just it's gone through the muscle of the bladder.
Any help/advice greatly recieved .
Thanks
C
