Should I stop taking tamoxifen

I have been taking tamoxifen for nearly seven years  now after a HER2 positive cancer that led to 2 lumpectomys ans nine weeks of radiotherapy. I am so fed up with how it makes me feel, I feel awful for 3 weeks out of four, have put on weight despite hardly eating, not sure if I'm in the peri menopause or if it's just the tamoxifen. I asked the doctor if I could stop but he told me that I need to be on them for ten years! I really do not think I can do another 3.5 years of this and I'm not sure if there are any further benefits anyway? It would be really helpful to have other people's views??
