No written scan results?

My husband has been diagnosed with cancer over a year ago.  We knew everything about his cancer then. Since then he had chemo and radiology and scans again. We never got scans results written down or the size or state of his cancer. He said he only had conversation with his doctor and doctor said "it's better it shrinked". Only over the phone? And that's it? Why don't we get written scan results report or exact size of tumour? Or is my husband not telling me things?

  • Hi Kerryberry56

I didn't receive any written reports on diagnosis, pathology etc. However, I did request them from my GP as I wanted to know everything. It's a fine line to tread for clinicians as not everyone wants to know the details of their cancer and much prefer to leave it in the hands of their medical team. Everyone's different, perhaps your husband doesn't want to know the ins and outs and is content with the current state of play.

  • Hi. Welcome to our friendly forum.  We rarely receive written results but we get told if we see an oncologist at some point!  I would just like to point you towards McMillan nurses, he should have one, they can bring up all his results in the system and talk it through with you both.  I hope all goes well for your future results.  Kind regards

  • I requested mine with answers to some relevant questions from my surgeon also stated the letter I asked him to respond to is to be added to my medical records. I want these idiots to answer my medical points especially after THEY ignored my breast cancer for 30 months.
