Secondary breast cancer liver /cureable/liver resection

I was diagnosed last year were secondary cancer and breast that had spread to the liver I had no lymph-node involvement and I had only my one small lesion on the liver which my team told me they were still treating me with curative intent I had chemo followed by radio and the aim is always to then remove the liver nodeBut after my chemo there was no evidence of the liver node at all on  any MRI or CT so now they are recommending that I don't get any operation on the liver just yet as they can't see where the tumour is, I would still prefer them just to take the area out where it was but the liver Specialist as unsure if that is the best option just now as I am stable ,has anyone else been in this position I'm also finding it hard to find any other stories of secondary cancer patients still being treated as curable or curative intent ?im on zoladex and  letrozole jus now , Er positive

  • Hello Sjbm.

I'm sorry to hear that you were given a diagnosis of secondary cancer last year. It sounds as if you've had a great response to the treatment. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious now that you've been advised that surgery is not appropriate at this time and I think many of our members here will understand that.

It sounds as if you're being well monitored by the specialists but it can sometimes help to talk things through with someone who isn't directly involved in your care. I wonder if you'd find it helpful to chat with our team of nurses? I'm sure they would be happy to listen and offer any information, advice, and support that they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
