Maintenance therapy for ovarian cancer

been on maintenance therapy, had the first round, completed last week.  During the first cycle my CA125 leves actually had risen, the drug is niraparib.  The doctor has said it has now slightly gone up from last count at 36, so bloods every two weeks.  Macmillian has said that with maintenance drugs that work in a similar way, turmour flair ups occur and usually level out and eventually go down.  I do hope this is the case........anyone else had this happen to them.

  • Hi JEH101jeh,

I'm sorry to hear that your CA125 levels have gone up slightly since starting your treatment but fingers crossed they will start to level out and go down again soon.

Hopefully some of our members who have had niraparib as part of their treatment for ovarian cancer will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to discuss this in more detail with one of our cancer nurses then you're very welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

You may also be able to get more information and advice about your treatment from the charity Target Ovarian Cancer.

    Kind regards,
