Hi Nicola
When I had my 1st session the nurse said to live life normally but take extra precautions. Wear mask, wash hands properly etc.
It may also depend on how you feel I know my first one the first week was the worst, some drugs are worse than others.
Can you call your oncology nurses and ask their advice?
Louise xx
Hi Bellelouise I'm guna ask on Wednesday when I go I will feel so upset if I can't go especially when everyone's enjoying themselves.
It just makes it all real again.
How far are you down your treatment does it get any easier xx
I know what you mean I had surgery in April to remove lump in breast then started chemo in June. All around me everyone is getting on with their lives whilst I'm stuck and can't plan anything as first drug was awful.
My first drug i had 21 days apart for 3 treatments. Now have a new drug every week for 3 weeks then 4th week off this is for 9 sessions so 3 months almost. The 2nd drug isn't as strong and although has side effects I can do lots more.
Xxx
See how you feel and ask the nurses. Even the same chemo can have a widely different impact on different people and there are literally hundreds of chemo regimes.
I had my first chemo on a Thursday and I was back working full time the following Monday. I found the side effects accumulated over time though. Luckily my immune system wasn't too badly affected and my white blood cell count stayed in the normal range throughout.
Good luck!
Dave
Ye the doctor said get on with your life it's hard when you feel ill and we have COVID aswell.
Imon the FEC-T treatment I know we all react differently guna be the longest 18 weeks of my life I think but as long as I'm here to see my Grandson grow up it's worth it.
wow Dave u were quite lucky I work in the hospital so I can't go back till the end of treatment so got to find things to keep me occupied x
I guess Covid makes a big difference to your options. I was in the NHS too at the time.
I work for NHS too and before I allowed back have to have risk assessment. I think I'll end up working from home more than going into to work.
They haven't mentioned that maybe when I'm sue to go back
They have been very supportive so far but I'm getting bored but 1st cycle so watch this space.
Well had my first chemo treatment today went ok feel sickly & got massive headache but ok otherwise. 5 more to go
