Metastatic eye cancer

Just over a year ago I was diagnosed 'out of the blue' with bilateral lung cancer. I had, and still don't have, any symptoms from it. It is untreatable and I will  only have palliative care when necessary. But I was referred to ophthalmology by my optician when I developed double vision. I am now advised there is cancer in my right eye. So it seems I have gone straight to stage 4 within 12 months. I am terrified of going blind, and feel so bereft. without my lovely sister/carer iwho s away this week and I'm desperate for her wise help and comfort.

  • I'm sorry that your lung cancer has spread to your eye Minimo.

I can't begin to imagine how difficult this news must be to take in at the moment but I'm glad you've returned to the forum as our community will understand what you're going through and will hopefully be along soon to offer their support and words of comfort until your sister returns.

If you feel it may help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses they'll be available on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m. from Tuesday onwards (their phone lines are closed tomorrow due to the bank holiday). You may also be able to get more information and support from OcuMelUK.

    Kind regards,
