Sigmoid colectomy

I had a left sided sigmoid colectomy 6 weeks ago after a routine poo test found abnormality

After a letter from consultant via My Doctor  which said no mor treatment so all good no chemo needed  .
no follow up not seen anyone since !
rang colorectal nurses for chat '

But really feel very much alone and  would of been nice to chat to someone  about my poo motions ,and general feelings

I hope someone else on here can tell me their experiences as my motions are not frequent and at 6 weeks now I have no urge to go just sit and hope and it happens in frequently .

  • Hi Chriscross and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm so glad the consultant's letter brought good news although I'm very sorry to hear about the lack of follow up from your medical team since you had this op.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this procedure will share their experiences with you soon but do feel free to join in on any other discussions you find about this when using the 'search forum' option in the purple bar above.

If you'd like to talk about your concerns and how you're feeling at the moment with our team of cancer nurses they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Thankyou but I can't find anyone to chat to on here Re sigmoid colectomy via laparoscopic operation

  • I'm so sorry you haven't found anyone to discuss this with Chriscross.

Have you come across the charity Bowel Cancer UK? They have an online community just like ours where you could try finding others who have had a sigmoid colectomy via laparoscopic operation but it may be worth asking your colorectal nurses about any other communities or support groups that you could join or get in touch with as well.

I hope this helps and you feel less alone on this journey soon.

    Kind regards,
