Mum terminal - family councelling

Hi,

I'm after any recommendations for a family concellor if possible please.

My friend is a single Mum (she's 46 and there is no father presence) and diagnosed as terminally ill with bone cancer (life expectancy 2-5 years). She has a 10 year old son who knows about the condition and is unsurprisingly finding it difficult to process.

She has been trying to find a family councellor that might be able to help but so far has not found anyone with experience of her type of situation.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Chloe

  • Hello Chloe

She could try her nearest Hospice, also she can contact her local Social Care Service.  If he is finding  the situation, understandably, difficult a visit to the doctors to express her concerns and ask for a mental health and support referral.

He may need time to talk to someone first on a one to one before he talks to mum.  Children can be very protective of the people they love.

They are lucky to have a friend looking out for them, such as you.  Best wishes
