Hormone therapy and depression. Did anyone else have this?

Hello, my husband has been on hormone therapy now for 18 months , he was ok at first but for the last 4 months or so he is extremely depressed , so bad that his oncologist has decided to take him off the treatment . Has this happened to any one out there ? He was ment to be on the hormone injections for at least 3 years after radiology for prostate cancer but it has now been 8 months and his mood is very worrying!!!

  • I'm sorry that your husband's hormone therapy had to be stopped Jean but as you'll see here, mood swings and depression are sadly one of the side effects that can occur with this treatment.

This must be very tough but you're not alone as some of our members have been on this journey and hopefully you'll receive some support and advice from them soon. You may also be able to connect with others who have experience of this side effect on Prostate Cancer UK

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
