Having chemo for NHL and experiencing anal pain. Pls help

I'm currently undergoing Chemo. fir Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and had my 4th session 6 days ago.

After the first session I had absolutely no side effects. However, after the 2nd and 3rd session I have have progressively worse severe anal pains like shards of glass. My wife ended up having me admitted to hospital where they administered oral morphine. Having just finished the latest steroids ai can feel the pains returning.

Is there anything I can do in advance to fend off the pain?

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Tomma although I'm very sorry about the pain you've been experiencing during your chemo. It sounds very painful.

Your medical team or GP would be best placed to help with this (they may be able to provide you with some more pain relief) but our lovely team of cancer nurses are also available on 0808 800 4040 (Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m) if you'd like to get thoughts and advice on this as well.

Hopefully you'll hear back from some of our members who have contended with this issue but in the meantime, I'll have my fingers crossed the pain starts to subside for you soon and your treatment continues to go well.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
