Hi, I've used the cold cap and after 8 rounds of docetaxel I've still got hair, although it's much thinner than before.
It's not an easy thing to do. Your head is subjected to -8 temperature and it's painful. If you can get through the first 15 minutes then you're ok.
If you decide it's for you then take a headband with you to protect your skin against freeze burns as it's more comfortable than gauze.
I hope this helps, Barb xx
Hi Barb,
thank you for your reply, I am glad the cold cap worked for you, all other leads I have followed say it doesn’t work. I fortunately may not have to have chemo now as I have had an Oncotype DX result back at 24 and because I am over 50 it is thought to be of no benefit. I just wondered if you had one of these tests done?

Hi,
It's a great outcome if you don't have to have chemo as it's brutal.
I have no idea what an oncotype DX is so no I've not had one. My cancer was evident from the onset with the skin changes and was confirmed before the biopsy results.
Good luck going forward.
Barb xx
