Can anyone help I am so scared I am starting my chemotherapy on the 12th of April 2021 and can't think right sorry if it sounds silly
I am waiting to hear what the plan is I am concerned because I am having chem before surgery for endometrial cancer some cells have escaped so the story is to have pre-chemo which I don't think is usual or is it? Terrified! Anyone had that.
Hi Iguana
Pre chemo, or neo adjuvant chemo, is a fairly accepted way of reducing / controling cancer cells before surgery.
That's what I'm on. 20 weeks of chemo before surgery, to shrink my lump to an operable size.
Your team know what they are doing. Survival rates arw really good these days. Be positive, but ask your team lots of questions so that you know what the plan is and why.
Then you can face that fear.
Kindest regards
Nic
Hi Coedpoethrocks,
Thanks for your input all seems to have happened so quick to start with - and now the waiting game it's comfort ing to know it's normal procedure. I have to get my head around it. Good luck to you
Thanks. And good luck to you too.
Hi Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time
last year I had a 12 week inpatient chemotherapy regime called RCODOX-M/R-IVAC, which involved daily doses of Rituximab, Cytarabine, Isophosphamide, doxirubicin and methotrexate, sometimes on 24hr constant flushes
the nerves around chemotherapy are something else, but I can tell you from my own experience my first few doses were 'much of a muchness' and really not worth the fuss. Everyone reacts differently to these drugs but generally the chemo experience is completely painless and event-free.
other symptoms/side effects may creep in along your cycle but by then hopefully your initial nerves surrounding the process will have subsided and you can deal with them as they come.
if you ever need a chat feel free to contact me on here.
