Can't give you an exact answer on how long the sore throat will last for as everyone is different in relation to recovery. I was diagnosed with cancer of the sinus, my radiotherapy was aimed at my neck. 

I know someone who lived on just the supplements for a few months. Make sure you keep up with your pain medication as this will help. Have you been given any mouthwashes? I was living on soup for at least a month or two. I did stay away from tomato soup. I just gradually weaned myself onto solid foods. Maybe try blending food and see if you can keep that down. If that doesn't work straight away try a few weeks later. It's just about perservering at the moment.
