Brca2 gene mutation

Hey there,

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2020 at the age of 36. I had a lumpectomy and started chemo in December 2020. I have 1 round left, then will start radiotherapy.

Having got this far towards the end of treatment, I was gutted to learn I have the brca2 gene mutation. I'm more gutted because I have 2 children that I could have passed it onto, but then again I suppose it is better we now know so hopefully if they do have it, they can be closely monitored.

Has anybody been given a brca2 diagnosis? If so, what was the plan of action? Were you monitored?

My Mum sadly passed away in January 2020 after a 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer, we're obviously unsure whether she carried the gene, but now my brother, Dad and 2 uncles from my Mums side will be offered testing.

Thanks,

Rach x
