Painful constipation

I had my first chemo session a week ago, which was ok up until yesterday when I experienced severe constipation, I phoned the mdcu who advised me to get some laxedo which I did the nurse told me to take 2 sachets straight away and 2more if that didn't work, this I did and it did seem to work. The problem is I am still getting severe pain when going to the toilet. Do you think I could have an abcess or boil there which is causing me so much pain

  • My mum has her second Chemo about a month ago and came down with really bad constipation, she was givien laxatives which didn't work and after a week we had to take her to A&E where they descovered she had a twisted bowl. I hope this isn't what's happened to you. She is now unsure whether to have more chemo as no one seems to be able to tell us if the Chemo caused this. I hope you're feeling better soon.

  • Hello Stacie, many thanks for your response, I had my second session yesterday and they told me to start taking the laxatives before I actually get constipated, this I've done and I'm hoping it will be better this time. The pain I was in was the worse pain I've ever had and I really wasn't prepared for it. I'm so sorry to hear about your mum and I do hope things are better for her now. Thank you so much for your kind words.

    Regards
