Need an opinion please

Hi I'm about to under go chemotherapy and radiation therapy next week for orophangeal cancer.ive been told that if I don't have both sides of my neck treated then the cancer can come back at 20-30% on my left side.ive been told that I'll lose my ability swallow.but if I have my left side treated then I'll have a feeding tube in for at least 18 months .at the moment all of my food is pureed and mashed up due to not being able to swallow as I had extensive throat and neck and shoulder surgery.

I'm already very depressed about this but now I have 48 hours to make my mind up..so the question is ..has anyone else gone through this and what are your experiences of it?

  • Hello Annie,

l am sorry that your choices are so nasty, and l cannot help with your specific cancer. The closest l can get was a stoma reversal that gave me 5 years of absolute misery before the the bowel finally accepted it could return to civilisation,so the grief has been worth the struggle..l could not see the point of taking a whole load of turnips just to live with the possibility of cancer return, and would rather toss in a heap of cabbage and go for broke and the chance of a normality l could live with ,albeit after a long hard journey.

l hope you get the best possible outcome from a really desparate situation,
