HI, I'm 54 yrs old, and 2 years ago was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer (primary tumour) with spread to my liver. The bowel tumour was remove successfully but the liver tumours ( mestatesis) are too many, and too large to remove. I've just had chemo number 30.

Waiting on an appointment with oncologist to discuss results of recent ct scan. 

Still pretty healthy, occasional tiredness but not doing too bad right now. 

All I can say to you is..... Don't give in.... don't let this horrible disease overtake you're husbands life....or yours.

Everyday, improvents, and new proceedures arrive.

My mum was also diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel cancer, with Liver metastases. However, I noticed you had surgery to remove the bowel cancer- unfortunately my mum has been declined surgery. In terms of surgery, how did the doctors agree to do this for you, and what criteria was used to assess this?

Further to this, are you also on palliative chemo, and how have you found this?

Hi Sadia, I had surgery due to the tumor completely blocking my bowel/intestines.

I was in severe pain, and the obstruction wasn't picked up during an xray. By the time it was noticed, several weeks had gone by and I was on morphine for pain control. Luckily for me, during one of the oncology meetings, there was a colorectal surgeon noticed and decided to operate to remove it. 

Yes, I'm on palliative care... Chemo. 

I've found it tough for about the last 12 cycles, severe nausea. 

I'm waiting for results on my scan to decide whether to continue or not. 

I'd rather have the quality, and at least be able to eat lol. 

I hope your mom gets the surgery she needs. 

Don't sit and wait.... Speak to the oncologist and ask.... I did.

My husband has been told his is inoperable too. They hope to shrink it with chemo. 

Don't give up hope, its the one thing we all have who are dealing with this. Husbands, wives, family and friends, are all affected in some way. 

All I can say is stay strong, its hard and tough. 

Ive had more than my share of tearful moments on this journey. But its not over yet lol. 

Keep fighting.

I'm really sorry to hear that, I hope the chemo shrinks it and doesn't cause your husband pain,  so he can continue to live a normal life. 
Don't give up hope- I know it's easy said than done, but positivity  and hope is the only thing that will keep you going. I know, stage 4 is the worst feeling, and you automatically think the worst. 
When I first found out my mum had stage 4 cancer, a few weeks back, I cried for a days straight. I felt like I was in a nightmare.

But then I researched into Stage 4, talked to people who had stage 4 cancer, had undergone treatment, had beaten the odds and were okay, even after a few years. Please try to be positive, take each day as it comes.
