Difficult Decision

Was diagnosed with metaplastic triple negative breast cancer in 2019.  Had wide local excision, FEC-T chemo and 5 days of radiotherapy.  Had first yearly mammogram that was clear.  In 2020 I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had a hysterectomy.  During that operation I had a nodule removed from my stomach.  Was told I would need chemo and radiotherapy.  I recently had a PET-C scan that showed other nodules in my stomach that I have been told will definitely grow.  I now have to decide whether to do carboplatin/pacilitaxel chemo.  Was told I may find I can't walk if I have this.  Not sure if this would be a temporary or permanent issue.  It's only been nearly 10 months since I finished FEC-T chemo.  Don't know how effective chemo will be in slowing down the growth of my stomach nodules.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Donna although I'm sorry about the difficult decision you're facing.

I'm not sure how much you know about carboplatin/pacilitaxel but I hope this information we have on our website will help.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this course of chemo will share their advice and experiences with you soon but if you'd like to talk things through with our team of cancer nurses they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Do be sure to discuss your thoughts and concerns with your medical team as they are in the best position to answer your questions and hopefully put your mind at ease.
