SVT after chemo

Hi I am a 58 year old woman who had chemo and radiation treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma about 30 years ago . I have had SVT for the last 18 years when my heart sets off sometimes it stops if I rest but other times I have to call an ambulance and am given Adenosine in hospital to stop the heart. This condition seems to be getting worse and is causing me huge anxiety. I have never realised that maybe the condition may have been brought on through the cancer treatment untill someone suggested it to me has anyone else had chemo and are experiencing anything similar?

  • Hi Joannemcfc,

I haven't, but my husband did.  Prior to having treatment he didn't have any heart issues, but after having chemo he  had quite a few instances of SVT.  The first time he called an ambulance, but it happened quite a few times, even when he was in hospital.  His oncologist prior to any treatment had told him a small percentage of patients could have issues with their heart following the particular chemo treatment he had.  He had Folfox with the first chemo treatment, but I can't remember what the components of folfox were.

    Take care.  Sue
