Dad Has Lung Cancer.

Hi

My father two years ago was diagnosed with bowel cancer, this was treated after having an op to remove large portion of his bowels  he then got sepsis and was in an induced coma for a couple of weeks ,he recovered from that, last year he was diagnosed with lung cancer he is now in his second round of chemotherapy fir that ,he is 70 years old,my partner and I had another baby in November, because of covid 19  my fathers cancer and the fact we don't live near my parents I have not seen my father for 12 months,I had my first video call with him a week ago it was a very upsetting experience to see my father so tired and frankly ill,I cant get his face out of my head,I am petrified I am going to lose him without ever physically seeing him again.

  • Hi Gman8374,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm very sorry to read of what your father is going through at the moment - I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you all given the situation and the restrictions.

Ultimately it sounds like it is a little out of your hands, for now at least, but I do hope you'll be able to get the opportunity to see him before too long. I'm glad you were able to have a video call although I know this is no replacement, and I'm sure it must have been a shock to see the changes. Hopefully you have the means to at least keep in touch with him fairly regularly.

Look after yourself too and keep speaking to others where it is helpful. We are always here for support on this forum too, and I'm sure there'll be others here who have been through, or are going through, something similar.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
