My letrozole

I've been on letrozole for 10 months, I had a right breast  masectomy in march . I'm feeling so tired all the time no interest in things and my body is hurting g all over , I'm pretty fed up,   is there anything you can suggest  I'm still getting really bad hot flushes   day and night xx

  • I'm sorry for the way the Letrozole is making you feel at the moment Susan. It sounds very tough but I hope it helps to know you're not alone as many of our members have experienced similar side effects and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

If you feel this is becoming unmanageable, do let your GP know as they may be able to offer an alternative.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you x I think it's just to  let u know ur not alone   xx

  • Susanl, my dear, I was in the same boat. I started on Letrozole in April 2019 after a right breast mastectomy too. I finished chemo and radiotherapy by March 2019.
I just morphed into in old woman. I'm 46 now. Every thing ached! My whole body was in constant pain all the time. I could go for a walk for 45 mins but then struggled to climb the stairs when I got home. I bore this till oct 2020 then gave up. I was very depressed as if we have not been through enough. It even caused carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. I got checked for arthritis but it was negative. It was all down to Letrozole in my case.  Spoke to my oncologist who then put me on Tamoxifen which I was told to start in December 2020. I could not bear to start it yet as I felt my body was so broken. I will start it in a few weeks but please speak to your Oncologist and see if there's any alternatives that they can give you. I will start the tamoxifen this week or next and as my oncologist has said some treatment is better than none. I'm just scared of the horrible symptoms flaring up again. Please speak to your oncologist and I really wish you all the very best xxx

  • Thank you xx I wish you all the luck in the world . Thing is you feel fine  before the op   then after everything  just hits you x

  • You too Susan. Please be gentle on your self. My horror began in may 2018 and I'm still getting myself to be normal whatever that is now. A new normal as I tell myself. Just this weekend struggled to feel good but the bad days will pass my dear, stay well xxx
