My chest feels tight, PICC LINE

Hi :))

I have a little bit of chest uncomfort and it's only been happening for the last five days since my treatment on monday just gone, during bloods being taken my chest felt a little tight and the nurse suggested it could just be how I was sitting during the taking of the blood.

However, it's now early saturday morning and the uncomfort is still there, it's not worrying me as such as I don't have signs of infection, no swelling or pain around the PICC insertion area, no pain along my arm and I'm not struggling for breath, it's just my whole chest feels quite tight.

Would a warm compress maybe help with the discomfort? I've been avoiding sitting hunched over (as I usually do) and still no better. A little TMI but it's just a sore chest all over (including my lady friends haha). I have two sessions left and I'm worried in case if I tell my nurses about the discomfort I'll have to have it removed/adjusted

  • Hi there,

It would probably be best to discuss this with your nurses or doctor if it's causing discomfort and/or concern, however you may initially wish to talk things through with one of our nurses, who may be better placed to advise than myself.

    If so, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Wishing you all the best and I hope the discomfort eases soon,
