Hi Everyone,
I was diagnosed with stage 1-2 bowel cancer backin December 2020 aged just 41. However after surgery they discovered the cancer is now stage 3 maybe 4 (i'm waiting for liver tests to come back).
The burning question i have is the two Chemo options ive been given and wondered if anyone could shed any light on symptoms they may have had from these types of Chemo?
Option one is: Capox - Its a 3 month intense treatment plan of intravenous (for 3-4 hours) in hospital and take-home tablet Chemothereapy for 3 weeks with a 7 day break in between treatments.
Option two is Folfox - It;s a 6 month less toxic treatment plan using a port pump for 2 days (once fittied i can return home and if preferred have treatment at home going forward) and having 12 day break in between rounds of Chemotherapy.
The side effects look the same on paper with the Macmillan website, i just wanted to know if anyone had side effects, what they were or are and how long they have lasted or if there are still ongoing even after treatment has ended.
Any advice or words of wisdome would be greatly appreciated. We've gone from a positive diagnosis to worse everytime we seem to see the oncologist and surgeon.
Thanks
Kirsty
