10 weeks post whipple procedure

Hi

I had my whipple procedure for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour end of october with a re-admission in November for a leak

The last couple of weeks I've been experiencing pain in my right lower back, drinking loads but urine can be dark a lot of the time. Waiting for blood results which had on Monday. Has anyone else experienced this after their procedure?

I've lost a little over 2st since surgery, im eating better but don't seem to be gaining and I feel like I'm going backwards with my recovery as experiencing a little pain and struggling to get comfortable at night again which is causing broken sleep

  • Hello Dee_Dee

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some problems after your surgery. Hopefully the blood tests that you've had this week will bring some answers about what may be going on.

I'd encourage you to speak to your nurse specialist if you were allocated one or alternatively to discuss your concerns with the GP/Consultant. They will be best placed to offer some advice and to arrange to see you if they have concerns.

Alternatively, you're most welcome to give our team of nurses a call for some advice. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jennifer

Thank you for replying. It was my CNS nurse who had arranged the bloods etc and am calling her Monday to find out results

I just feel at the moment I'm going backwards when I seemed to have been doing so well going forward. Seem to be struggling again at night to get into a comfortable position

    Regards
