Really in need of help!

Hi there 

 

I'm new to the forum 

 

23rd December would have been my dads birthday and I've been thinking about it alot this year although it's the second year he hasn't been here. 

 

I've joined the forum for a few reasons but the main one tonight is I was changing my 2 year old today and I've found a lump in his outside thigh which is firm and about pea sized. 

 

He hasn't had any injections recently and I've only just noticed it today. 

 

My experience with cancer started with my dad he had 4 different types of cancer before finally losing his battle and my uncle also lost his fight in the last year so as you can all imagine I'm now convinced my son has this awful disease aswell  

Is there anyone around on this forum not to diagnose or anything like that just to share a similar experience? 

 

My other reason for joining this forum is to be there for other people who are trying to deal with things that I may be able to help with such as a parent with cancer. I do what I can to raise money and support anyone who needs it and I feel this could be a good way to expand that help.

 

The main reason for the post is because I'm so worried about my son and I sont know if its just my previous experiences or if I should be concerned.

    I'm sorry to hear about your dad and uncle, my condolences.

    I see from your post that you are worried about the lump your child has.The best thing to do is to contact the doctor about this. When you are worried about cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    What I gather from your post is anxiety, stress and grief especially. If you are worried about your child's health, then always phone NHS 24 or your GP. Hope your son's okay?

    Children get a variety of illnesses, scrapes, bumps and bruises. If there was no fever accompanying the lump, then try not to worry. Children's main way of battling everything is by developing a fever, and this is also a very good thing as the body temperature is too high for infection to take a full grasp. Always look for a fever when worrying about a child's health - and follow NHS guidelines on when and when not to worry about fevers.

    Welcome to our forum.

    I am s sorry to hear about the loss to your dad and your uncle to cancer and, can fully understand your consequential worry about your son. I agree with what Anastasia has advised. Phone your GP and see what their opinion is.

    As to your other reason for joining, it sounds as if your poor dad had quite a battle with cancer and, your experience will be invaluable to others who are dealing with some of these issues. Any support you can give will be most welcome.

    I sincerely hope that all turns out well with your son. Do please let us know the outcome. We are always here for you.

    I spoke to the gp and weve been advised that its scar tissue from injections. 

     

    I hope my ecperiences can in some way help others who may not know what is happening

    HI Andrew,

    I'm so relieved to hear that you have been advised that this is due to scar tissue from injections. Just keep an eye on the area to ensure that there are no further changes. If you notice anything, don't hesitate to bring him back to your GP.
