Breast cancer radiotherapy side effects

Hi

I am currently 7 sessions in to a 10 session radiotherapy treatment plan for breast cancer.  First 5 days were all over and these last 5 days are a boost to the area where the lump was.

About 3 days in I started getting some nausea and about 5 days in I have started to get a bit of a MILD upset tummy.  The radiographers are surprised as nausea and upset tummy is usually an associated side effect for treatment to the stomach and pelvic region etc.

Having said that, they were also surprised at how red my skin had got after just 1 session too so maybe I am just a bit sensitive.

I am also drinking a lot more than normal- aiming for my 2 litres a day.  Previously I was quite bad with this so was prob having no more than 1 litre max. So know that this cld impact my digestive system too.

Just wondering if anyone having radio for breast cancer has experienced these side effects? Thank you so much

  • Hi tbt76,

I'm sorry to read that you're experiencing these effects, although it sounds like you're managing them well in terms of your approach.

Of course do continue to keep your medical team in the loop with any changes, as they're always best placed to advise.

My reply here will boost your post so more people will see it, and if anyone here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,
