My mum used a cold cap initially but it didn't help, her hair still fell out. She ended up shaving what remained off and wore a wig.

I understand it may also be due to the type of chemo

thamks for the reply, I have heard different things about the cold cap and I think I'm just going to go ahead with treatment without.

Hi Macky, I tried the cold cap, I found it really horrible and my hair fell out anyway.  My friend though did it and it worked. I'd suggest you give it a go and if it doesn't work or you don't like it you can stop.

I'm currently using the cold cap. I've had 3 sessions so far. I'm not going to tell you that it's an easy or pleasant experience because it's not. It's cold. Colder than you can possibly imagine but if you can get past the first 15minutes then you've cracked it.

My son's wedding is next year in Bulgaria in August. I really didn't want to have to wear a wig in that heat so decided I'd give the cold cap a try. I've barely lost any hair so for me it's definitely worth the discomfort. If you change your mind and give it a go take a headband with you to protect your skin from the cold. Gauze is used if you haven't got the headband but the headband works better.

this information really helps thanks. Seeing oncologist on Monday so still have a couple of weeks to make my mind up before treatment starts.
