BCG Treatment for bladder cancer

Hi all... I was very glad to read all the posts on this subject. I have just completed my 12th installation and I can say it's got worse and worse , with the burning sensation inside the bladder and waking up every 2 hours to pee. What I have found worrying over the course of treatment is each time the I see a different Doctor who inserts the catheter and a different nurse who then fills me up with BCG they always ask why I'm having done and do I want to leave the catheter in! The last session the nurse but the catheter bag back on and had to tell her to stop as all the BCG would go back in the bag... So she quickly removed the catheter..... It's bad enough going through the treatment but then having to question the professionals   All this makes the appointment even more frightening....

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Colsmc50 although I'm sorry that your treatment is becoming more difficult with each session and you're lacking confidence in the staff that are looking after you.

It must be very tough and I'm sorry you've been left feeling this way but there are things you can do if you are having problems with your care. To find out more, just click here.

I hope this helps but if you'd like to discuss your treatment and the way it is being carried out with one of our cancer nurses then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon as well.
