Lung tumour removed Pain 20 months post op - is this normal?

Hello,

I had a lung tumour removed in Feb 2019. It went very well, my surgeon said that he'd managed to take a good area around the tumour and as a result I didn't need any follow up surgery or other forms of cancer treatment. I felt very lucky. My initial recovery was good too. I wasn't in much pain apart from tingling sensations down my left arm and side near where my scar is.

Over the last few months I've been experiencing more and more pains in my chest near where the surgery was. Nothing significant enough for me to mention to anyone that I was in pain and uncomfortable Until a few days ago where I've had moments where I've been really uncomfortable and in pain. The pain feels like it is deep in my chest (behind my breast) and I am concerned that  this means something as I'd not felt much pain at the time of my initial recovery.

Has anyone experienced anything like this after having surgery? I've tried making a Drs appointment but they can't fit me in soon enough to put my mind at rest.

  • Hello, I have lung cancer and I had part of my lung removed two years ago. I also get a burning sensation which feel as if it's deep in my chest. Although I am still having chemo and it can cause pain in my lungs i have been told that pain re post op can still occur so t might be post op pain. Nerves are severed during the operation and this can cause painful sensations after many months.
